Printers

I'm trying to install a brand new canon pixma printer to my dell laptop (windows2000). I have inserted the installation disk but the computer cannot locate the printer. When I try to manually select a driver from the list i'm getting a list of LPT 1 2 and 3, Com 1 2 3 and 4, FILE, IR and MSFAX. Whenever I select one of these, the computer then recognises the printer but whenever i try to print it comes up "printer not responding". The printer came with a lead with a USB connection and i've tried it in all the USB slots.

Very frustrated, any ideas anyone????

Hi all,
I wonder what is the best paper for a laser printer. Cotton paper?
I am asking because today I put newsprint in my new laser printer and it was jammed in the middle...so I had to open the entire printer to get the sheet back.I heard that 99% of the paper on the market is made from carbon which is not that good. I probably need cotton or something carbonless.

My printer used to work. Now, everytime I click the print button, the options and settings page come up and I click to continue printing like normal but it automatically opens that box where you save a document or something. I dont know what else to do. The company charges $35 to get help from them!! Thats crazy. Does anyone know about this problem and how to fix it? Thanks!

We have recently bought a windows vista operating system and we tried to load our Hp photosmart c6180 disc onto the computer. It would not install because we are running vista. There is no seperate disk for the vista operating system either. We have tried going to the HP photosmart website and installying a fix but without success. Any help/info/links are appriated.

I have a HP LaserJet - approx. four years old. I have recently upgraded to Windows XP and have downloaded new drivers. Now I am trying to switch from parallel port to USB. I have a Canon MP160. I bought USB-USB chords so I could connect it to my computer. I plug in a USB chord and the message "E9 [or 9E]" shows up. I don't know what it means... I threw away the manual [thinking I wouldn't need it anymore]. I've looked online, but I really don't know what to search. Any help is appreciated.
