I have a Canon MP160. I bought USB-USB chords so I could connect it to my computer. I plug in a USB chord and the message "E9 [or 9E]" shows up. I don't know what it means... I threw away the manual [thinking I wouldn't need it anymore]. I've looked online, but I really don't know what to search. Any help is appreciated.

So I found my manual. But still nothing. This is what it says:

The size of the document cannot be correctly detected or the document is too small when the Fit-to-Page copying is selected. Make sure the document meets the requirements and correctly loaded on the Platen Glass. Then reload the document and press [Black] or [Color]. See "Setting documents" on page 15.

It turns out there are 2 E9 error messages. I think this one is more accurate:

Depending on the model or brand of your device, you may have to select a print mode compliant with PictBridge before connecting the device.

Hi. Try un-installing from the computer, reboot, and then plug in the USB cable. Windows will find the hardware and reinstall the drivers. Just a guess.

Did you install the software and drivers?

Hmm... That is a good question but it within the Canon MP160 problem issues area.
