I had a serious paper jam in my printer, but I got the majority of the paper out, but there is some still stuck through the part of the feeder that I can't get to. Do I have to take it to a shop or should I just feed another paper through and hope it catches it? This is my first printer...

Its easy to take out if you know the way.
Whats the model and make of the printer ?
If you tell me the model it would be easier for me to suggest you solution.

1. Try opening all the cover and accessing the paper pieces.
2. Do not pull hard, there may be some process the release the roller pressure.
3. Check paper quality to avoid further jams.
4. Switch on the printer without paper. It may be possible that when the printer initializes it may release the paper pieces. Do not leave it ON for more than a minute.

Have you opened the back of the printer to see if that is where the paper is jammed? You might be able to pull the rest out from back there.

Dont freak out...

I would agree with sending another through the printer, it SHOULD get it out.

If not, reply to my answer and tell me.

Thanks,
