I wont an IBM ThinkPad T30 in a work auction. It came with a docking station, a broken LCD and recovery disks. My thought was to use it as a desktop by hooking my existing monitor, mouse and keyboard to the docking station. When I plug in the monitor it doesn't recognize the computer (and vice versa). I'm not sure if this has to do with the fact that there is no operating system on it. How can I get the monitor to work on this laptop. It boots up and holds a charge just fine, but I can't move forward without being able to see what is happening.
Thanks, ken

I want to play dvd's on my computer but it comes up with a message
"Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. Open Display in Control Panel, and then lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. To view the DVD Troubleshooter, click More Information."
Is there a way to fix this without having to install a different dvd player.

My laptop is connected to a 21" monitor. I accidently hit a button on the laptop and it shrunk everything on my monitor. I've tried resetting it in the control pantel (it shows two screens and my monitor is screen 1) but now it is stretched longways. I have to print screen and paste pictures of SAP line items (accounting software) into Excel workbooks then type out the numbers into formulas in the worksheets. The pictures are overlapping the formula's and I have to set the zoom to 200 just so I can see the numbers on the pictures. Then I have to move the screen back and forth to make sure I'm typing the right numbers into the formula. I've gotten no help from my own or my company IT personnnel. Also, when I go to the Internet my home page is only 1/3 of it's width and it's straight down the middle. The screen in SAP is also small print and narrow. How do I reset my 21" monitor so everything looks normal?

I'm familiar with LCD's in general and I'm aware that they are measured diagonally across the viewable area to define the monitor "size".

I'd like to know the actual length and height measurements of the Viewable Area of the following wide screen LCD monitors:

22 inch & 24 inch with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

e.g. My 19" is a 4:3 aspect ratio and the Viewable Area measures 14 7/8" wide by 11 7/8" high.

I've Googled myself to death and haven't been able to find anything that actually defines the Viewable Area of these monitors.

Would you please actually measure your 22" and/or 24" Wide Screen LCD Monitors and let me know their actual Viewable Area sizes.

Your help is appreciated.

It's a ViewSonic VX2235wm 22-inch. The line appeared at random, then vanished at random. Did this thrice. Then it was there to stay. Then, I read somewhere about "tapping the bezel"; I did that near where the blue line is, and it vanished. Now:

1. Is it an LCD, graphics card (GeForce4 MX 440), or connector (VGA) problem?
2. Will service repair it - because it goes on and off? Suppose it's off when they inspect it?
3. Why did tapping on the bezel work?
4. I ran those screen generators (you probably know about these if you've read thus far). Then,
4.a I tapped the bezel *after* I'd run the screen generators. Did the screen generators make a difference?
4.b The software helped tremendously in improving the picture, though the monitor is only 2 weeks old. So what's up? Is my monitor bad? Do people run these videos often to keep their LCDs in good shape?

Please answer as many of the above as you can - I'll offer you a pizza with all the toppings *if* you can come over to my place!

I have an older model monitor. Its nota flatscreen or any of the newer kind. It is a "Tangent" 16 inch. It works good until I am watching DVD`s on it. If I am watching a black and white movie after awhile it will get really dark. So dark it just ruins the movie watching. I have tried to find a way to lighten it but have failed to do so. I have looked everywhere on it, but there is nowhere to lighten it. No contrast or anything. Would anyone have any help please. Any ideas at all would be welcome.
Thank you very much.
