I need a laptop the burns movies and CD's and has at laest a 120 GB hard drive with 2 Gigs of memory and a good graphics card? waht kind should I get and how much does it cost?

This is my first laptop. I'm so used to desktop that I'm a little confused. I want to download Itunes, Frostwire and other programs that I had on my desktop. I don't want to transfer files because my old desktop has hidden viruses. What firewalls can i setup to ensure my new laptop is virus/spyware/spam free.

right now i have a black macbook. But idk if i should get a new one. I want a laptop that i can download alot of music and movies on watch movies. Something not heavy, so that i can travel with it. Do reports on it and surf the web and messenger. I am thinking about getting a macbook pro. Does anyone have any others choices that would be great to.

Okay.. heres the deal. Me and my parents have pretty much decided that I am going to get a labtop for christmas. The computer we have currently is piece of crap old dell... and I plan to go to college in a couple of years. So I really want a nice computer that will last... and one where I wont have to wait half an hour to turn the fricken thing on. Also something that will be good for school. I really like the macbooks. They have them on amazon on sale for like 1019.00.. which is like 80 dollars less then if I go to apple. The only thing is if apple is gonna come out with a brand new top-of-the line labtop the new year.. I hate when they do that(but they make really sweet computers...))

Also.. so many people say windows vista is a piece of crap.. and you cant downgrade to xp if needed.. and any labtop that isint a mac is sold on VISta. But if anyone has a diff opinion...?

Sooo0o... do you think a macbook would be a good investment for the future or maybe a vista computer??

it will come on and and go to windows but as soon as windows xp screen comes up it flickers and goese off and comes back on by its self and keeps repeating untill i finaly turn it off my self it came with a 20 gb hard drive but it was not working so i bought a 120 gb hard drive for would that make a difference i dont know if it worked before that it was given to me

I've got a old Toshiba Satellite 1105 laptop that just won't recognize that the AC adapter's plugged in. Battery's completely dead now, but the "Power cable attached" LED doesn't light up on the laptop with or without the battery inserted. The power adapter's working fine, pumping out the required 19V DC, and I popped open the laptop to check the plug, and it's receiving the same 19V to the Motherboard. I'm not sure where to go from there, anyone have a suggestions. I'm thinking it might be a bad Motherboard, but I'd appreciate any other ideas on this. Thanks --Richard

I typically leave my laptop out in the cold. However, last night it was really cold (24 degrees) and in the morning I tried to turn it on but it would IMMEDIATELY shut off. On the 4th try, it finally powered up and works perfectly fine now. When I do leave it in my car, it's zipped up in a protective laptop bag.
the computer is about 2 months old....do you think something bad happened to it or is it fine? It works fine now, but I just want to know if I may have damaged something.

I have basic computer knowledge, but, when it comes to the maintence of one... I'm clueless.

I wanting to buy a laptop for my husband & myself for Christmas, we'll use it for the internet, shopping, looking up information, office word, downloading pictures from camera, just simple stuff....

My question is, does it matter what kind I get?

Are laptops something you have to up grade, like cars, take 'em in for service & up to date?

In a couple of years, do I need to buy all this extra stuff to make it faster & better?

Are laptops like cars, loses value, the newer the better?

ok right now my sis's HP lap top almost died completely..
anyways its because the charger had come loose off of the second pat if u have a pavilion u should know what it is. anyways Right now its almost completely outta juice lol i mean im on it but i wanna know if i can be on it or should i let it charge?
I knw i should let t charge but lets say i sty on it.. will it like mess it up?

I am having a problem with a Dell Dimension 8100. One or more of the sticks of RAM is bad. The PC uses RDRAM. How can I narrow down which stick or sticks are bad? It seems that it needs all 4 sticks to be installed to even boot, so there's no way to isolate it to just one stick.

I have an Acer Aspire 5100-3372.

My laptop shuts off periodically. I would like to know how to see the real time temperature of my laptop? What settings show the temp and what are the fins (3 total) start/stop temperature setting? Are there any good free programs that can show the temperature and can modifications be made to avoid this problem in the future? I suspect it's because of my computer's video card or video / display settings. But my laptop is still running. It did not hang. I know it is still running because my hard disk and processor is up. Only the laptop monitor encountered an error.

My laptop is only 1-week old. I recently installed all video drivers 5 days ago.

I will really appreciate if you can help me with this. Thanks.
