What you need is a wireless router. For the most part, any decent wireless router should do, but you need to get one that fits the wireless cards you have, and your home. First, find out what standard your cards use(A, B, G, pre-n etc). Generally you should get an N draft or pre-n(whatever they call it right now, because they cant decide) router. What you need really depends on your house. Are you close to neighbors? Is there some brick/concrete construction in areas you want to use your laptops? How far away will you be using it and through how many walls? If you wont have much in the way of interference(walls etc) and are close to neighbors, you should go with something thats cheaper, with a smaller range(but enough to make sure you always get good signal). If you are away from neighbors, or really need to use your laptops in a wider area with more obstruction, then you may need to pay extra to get something more powerful. You should be fine really with anything from Netgear, Linksys, Belkin, D-Link etc.

Get a wireless firewall router. There are several different versions of routers now. If you want to be on the cutting edge, get a wireless N. If you want to save money get a wireless G.
Research routers and wireless some before you buy to see what your needs are and which router you need. I have a wireless G router which I use wired but others use wireless. For security I turned the broadcast off and turned the radio down to low power. Some people want more range, I want less.
The firewall will help prevent hackers from hacking into your computer when it is set up correctly. People try all the time to get into other computers.
There are several different popular brands also. And there are many places on the internet to buy a router, not to mention in any mall, electronics and computer stores.
