I typically leave my laptop out in the cold. However, last night it was really cold (24 degrees) and in the morning I tried to turn it on but it would IMMEDIATELY shut off. On the 4th try, it finally powered up and works perfectly fine now. When I do leave it in my car, it's zipped up in a protective laptop bag.
the computer is about 2 months old....do you think something bad happened to it or is it fine? It works fine now, but I just want to know if I may have damaged something.
Thanks

most everything in a computer can handle those kind of temperatures.

Your problems come with moving parts and batteries. Hard drive platters expand and contract in temp extremes and may have protective mechanisms to not come on until they have reached a certain temp.

Batteries just don't function well at low temps and MAY cause a problem but not likely.( if you were working on battery power and not plug-in power it wouldn't get enough power to boot until the battery had warmed up)

Doubt you did any permanent damage but I wouldn't do it very often if avoidable. If you have to, wait an hour or so for it to warm up before booting.

chilly climate does no injury to desktops, some human beings use liquid nitrogen to chill out their areas. The chilly wrecks havoc on lcd displays nonetheless and you mustn't in any respect turn the lcd on until the reveal screen (ie lcd) has warmed up and bypass extra effective. i won't be able to see how the chilly broke your workstation areas nonetheless. Edit: LO- replaced into there a hose on your motor vehicle? LCDs are sealed reflects except there are ice sickles transforming into how might there be water injury? The reveal screen won't freeze sturdy except it fairly is super chilly it fairly is going to slightly artwork and look terrible (i've got performed it in the previous) whether it fairly is going to nonetheless artwork.

Hi. If you do not let it warm up water will condense inside and out. Bad.
