Howdo i restore my laptop back tofactory settings safely without losing my windows xp running program?
I have been given a laptop for my children to use but i would like to delete all the previous owners information and just have the basic information left on it like the windows xp running program internet explorer etc then i can just add my own stuff, i look forward to your answer thanks ebony?

My computer fan recently stopped making noises like it was working and now the machine sometimes turns off on its own. The clock also started slowing down, which makes me worry about the battery. I can't get it sent out to be fixed for three more weeks, what are some precautions I can take to avoid frying anything?

i have a hp (compaq nx6110) laptop, and with christmas coming up i want to know what all i can do to it to make it better. like memory and whatever makes it go faster. i run a lot of programs at once, is there anything that can improve its speed when im doing that. i guess what im saying is is there really all that much you can do to improve a laptop, and if so what?

my laptop is saying its running from the battery.. and that the battery is low.. i have it plugged into the wall and its set to use the power but its still using the battery.. i got this laptop from my aunt. so i don't know all that much about laptops... any help would be great! =D thanks

I did. I went to Best Buy because they had a Sony Vaio, wireless mouse, and case waiting for me for $499.00, $575.00 instant savings, I couldn't believe it. I usually never go but this was something I couldn't refuse. I started camping out at Best Buy at 8PM on Thanksgiving to make sure I was first as they were only having 5 per store of this deal. OMG, as the line grew, it was rediculous. It looped around the store and the parking was rediculous. Best Buy had great costumer service. They gave us Coco and had a TV out. I also knew I would get my laptop because they had reserve tickits for the laptops, so once I got my ticket, I was good.

Now I'm typing on my new Sony Vaio and I couldn't be any more happy. I know it was crowded, but it was well worth it.

I went to best buy on black friday and bought the toshiba laptop and printer for $230. I wanted to know if it actually was a good deal. I know the computer was originally $600 and the printer was $80. Yes I know I saved money but is the computer worth it. I only need it for internet and homework stuff so I don't need an amazing computer. It just seems a little slow.

I've also heard horrible things about Windows Vista. Is there any way to install Xp on my computer. I heard that it is hard to get Xp to work on Toshiba's.

It came with Pentium M 1.6 (420) Vista HB It is just too slow, I had to downgrade to XP Pro, it helped but still too slow.

I shut down my laptop last night, before going to bed. When I switched it on this morning, it loads up until it comes to my wallpaper (which is a windows one) no task bar or icons come up.

What can I do to try and fix this? It loads up in safe mode, but not really sure what I'm looking for in there.

i got the new acer extensa 5620 at bestbuy.com and I want to put another gig of ram. The only problem is that no where on the internet is EXTENSA5620 ram available, only ACER ASPIRE 5620.

Can i just buy the acer aspire ram? It's just weird that bestbuy has it listed as EXTENSA but the only laptop with model number 5620 is the aspire?

Basically:
I have a laptop.
My laptop's hard drive emmits clicks and taps (very, very quiet, but noticeable)
I have read a lot about the so-called CLICKS OF DEATH that indicate imminent hard drive failure, but HP tech support assures me that they are quite normal and nothing to worry about.
I, however, am going to be using this laptop a lot over the next year and use it to store valuable data. I cannot afford a hard drive failure.

does anyone here experience similar sounds? do i need too replace my drive or forget about it?

Laptop is brand new btw.

I have a Compaq Presario 2200 (Really old, I know) and I need to bring the laptop battery back to life for about 5 minutes.

I don't have a charger at ALL, and I need this within 5 hours...please help me!!! I'm going crazy!!!

my laptop's processor is an amd athlon64 x2..... i'm guessing the 64 stands for 64-bit processing?....but, it says on the laptop that the system is only a 32-bit processing type.. does this mean in a godd way or bad way.. the fact that the amd i got is 64-bit???

i have a panasonic cf-48 toughbook. it used to be a firemans laptop. so its a little worn out on the front. to bad im a 15 yr old girl.lol. i only want to spraypaint the top. i will be using Krylon Fusion for plastics( my daddy said to use tht). and it will be a light pink=] and then i was to put rhinestones as hello kittys head on the front. what do i need to do to achive this?

How can I reset,bypass or figure the HDD password on my Gateway notebook M210 Model: NX200S. I tried to upgrade the HDD It asked me for HDD pasword gave me 3 strikes and now I can't even make it work with original HDD. I reseted CMOS but nothing. If someone know or has any tips, tricks please let me know the only trick I know is throwing it out of window.
