It came with Pentium M 1.6 (420) Vista HB It is just too slow, I had to downgrade to XP Pro, it helped but still too slow.

ok sorry for the first person. the cpu is upgradable.
you have to find out what intel chip set you have.

its may be the 945 because of the video being gma950. or it could be the 915 chip set.
go to the intel site and see what cpu can you got with. first find out your chip set. there are programs that will tell you if you do not know how to find out.

remember there is a issue with heat so do not get the fastest one you can get be resonable. there heatsink and fan was made for the cpu you have not a faster one. so be open for that.

Sorry, but the CPU isn't upgradeable. But, you can probably add more RAM. 1GB is the recommended minimum, 2 GB should speed things up nicely.

My guess is the real reason your laptop is so slow is your machine is infected with Malware. Use the Discovery Tab here to learn all about malware and how to remove it.
