After a hard drive crash on my laptop I need to use the reininstallation CD to reinstall windows is this?

a simple to do task? For instance is it just a matter of popping in the cd and going from there? Currently my computer is unable to start up windows.

Put in the CD and follow the directions.
ERASE and INSTALL
