Add-ons - December 2007

I have an old compaq case that has two usb ports on the front... and i'm upgrading my motherboard that has usb 2 support... What i'm wondering is if i plug the usb ports from my case on the motherboard that is usb 2 will they work as usb 2 or will the still only work as usb 1... or will they not work at all?

I currently have 1gb of RAM on my laptop. I am thinking of upgrading it to 2 1gb slots (4GB). Is it worth it, and what will this do to my laptop?

Well, simply I bought this in a shop and plugged it in my USB slot but the sound comes out of the speakers and the microphone doesn't work - I use Window XP Home Edition if that's any help - how do I use them :).

What PSU do i need to run the following:

Intel Core2 2.9ghz extreme edition X6800
150 gb WD Rapter 10,000RPM SATA hard disk
500 gb WD Sata hard disk
DVD burner
4x 1gb OCZ PC8500 DDR2 ram
Audigy2 ZS sound card
EVGA 8800 GTS 640mb Video card.

Roughly 5 fans (not including CPU or video card fan)

looking for something that will support this without running into any problems. As I was some really large cost difference between power supplies, i wasn't sure which is the correct one for what i want to do.

I do not plan to upgrade or overclock any of that any time soon.

Brand new hard drive, came with sound card...can't get any sound.....supposed to have built in speakers and even when I plug in my old speakers I still can't get any sound.....Am I supposed to even need speakers?
No sound whats so ever.......any suggestions or remedies besides throwing it out the window?

i recently got an hp a6200n and want to upgrade the graphics card. the computer has right now a Geforce 6150 or something like that and i want to get a better Geforce like the new 8800 GT or something. The computer has an "integrated video card" (dont know what that means).. Is there a special microphone i should buy?
Do i need a sound card other than the one i got with my motherboard (intel dg33bu)?

I already have a recording microphone( Behringer) but even on the loudest volume level the sound is very faint and i have to scream into to actually hear a sound...

I was cleaning my computer last week and have inadvertantly done something to my Samsung DVD Rom SD 616T and Samsung CD R/RW, my computer is no longer recognising them it keeps saying missing or corrupted Code 39 have tried uninstalling them and putting them back but it doesn't help
