I'm looking at some PCI USB cards, but the PCI interface's all point AWAY from my motherboard. Is it possible to flip it upside down and install it so i works right (it would screw in fine)

It could only be mounted in one orientation but typically w/ USB ports pointing towards the rear of the mobo. Your slot could be of different signaling voltage that is why notch is in a different location. Better get a universal PCI to USB adaptor card w/ 2 notches.
