Add-ons - June 2007

I have a PNY Attache 512 MB flash drive and my desktop is an eMachines T5026 Windows XP Home edition. Every time I plug in the flash drive into any USB port, my computer recognizes it because it comes up in the list of hardware to be removed safely, but it does not appear in My Computer or anywhere else, so I can't see my files and do anything to them. I still have to go to the tool to safely remove the flash drive.

What can I do so that my computer recognizes my flash drive? It used to recognize it perfectly fine before, but I don't know why it doesn't recognize it now. I know the flash drive works because I've tried it on another desktop that I have and it works.

Please help me figure this out.

When I recently updated my NVIDIA Video card to NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE, my videos seem to be choppy and play slowly. I never had this problem. I got the update from Microsoft Update because I needed to update my Video Card to a newer model to play a game and thought that it would help. Anyone have a solution for this?

Usually what amount of monet does it cost to buy the tower of the computer? Just the tower not with a keyboard and speakers and a screen etc. How much does it usually cost to buy a nice and sufficiant speed tower (where you put in the cds and stuff) I would ONLY like to buy a dell one. Arond how much money does it cost??

I know that one doesn't even come close to the 8800, but if I get two and run them in SLI mode, thats still a lot of power isn't it? Thats a gig of devoted GDDR2 RAM (512 each), and each with a factory overclocked core of 500 MHz (which I'm probably going to overclock even higher). Right now I have a 7100GS with 256 MB of on board memory (512 effective) and 2 gigs of RAM with a P4 at 3.2 GHz. With that system, I can play F.E.A.R on medium settings and I can just barely play Oblivion on low (obviously with a processor like that). Everyone keeps saying that the 8800 is the only card thats good enough for oblivion. I'm going to get a 2.13 GHz Core 2 Duo E6420 and overclock it close to 3 GHz. With this processor, 2 gigs of DDR2 800 RAM, and dual 7600's, would i be able to play FEAR maxed, and maybe Oblivion on medium or so? I only plan on using a res of 800x600 unless i can get it to go higher.

I wanted to know which graphics card is better. E-vga GeForce 8600 GTS 256 MB DDR3 ---or--- ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256 MB DDR3. They both have dual DVI but the 8600 GTS has Direct X 10.

I am looking to buy a 250G external hard drive for my (somewhat elderly) PC, as it only has 10G internal memory.

All the ones I have seen say that they run via a USB 2.0 connection. My questions are, therefore:


1) How do I know if I have USB 2.0 ports on my PC??

2) If I don't have USB 2.0 ports, will the external hard drive still work?


I don't want to pay out for a new hard drive if it won't work!

I've Heard of Quad-SLI systems, but I havent heard of there being able to be a Tri-SLI... Yah see... Im building a computer for someone who is working with AutoCAD, and I dont want to dissapoint, and his system will allow 3 Nvidia 8800 Ultra's (I.e enough PCI-Ex16 ports) just wondering if it was possible! I did only play internet games like Wow and LOTRO. It would lock up for a few seconds and then move and lock up, etc. I tried on Fable and it seems to be doing the same thing. I've taken it to computer store. They wiped the drive clean, put in a nethercard?, checked that it wasn't the router. But they didn't seem to think it was graphics card.
