I'm uploading some file from my external harddrive. How long can it stay connected via usb to my laptop? Can it stay for days? or weeks?

As long as the laptop has power the external drive will stay connected. You will not hurt the drive or the computer. My office use an extral hard drive for data back up. It has been connected to an unused PC for over a year.

I have two Western Digital Ext. HDs, one at 500gb (468) and the other 250gb (about 230). I can load 4gb is about 15-20 minutes if nothing else is processing through a USB2.0 connection. It can stay connected aslong as you want it to, although I wonder how long it will really take you to upload those files.

in case you won't be able to work out the "thoroughly eliminate Hardware" iCon on your Taskbar, Goto initiate Button -> computing gadget -> discover the Junk rigidity/problematic rigidity which you linked, it could be in (E:) or (F:). click it as quickly as -> report (From the Menubar, good-Left element of the domicile windows) -> click Eject!
