My power cord for my laptop has become loose. I guess it's more the outlet that it goes into the computer. It can be plugged in but if the computer wiggles it stopps charging even though it's still plugged into the computer. Does anyone know of a way to fix this...I'm at the point where I don't care if it has to be permantly attached. It's an IBM ThinkPad, don't know if that matters or not.

I recently moved dorms so of course I had to pack up and move my computer, but since Im in this new room, my monitor seems to flicker, and its not the flickering of going to black and then back on but it seems to flicker with whats on the screen. Its like a slight ripple and almost makes me think of a power problem but my power supply has been upgraded just recently and is MORE than what I need.

Ive changed the plugs etc around and no luck. I was curious what could be causing this and how to fix it. TIA and all the best, Jon

If you declare a class member as "private" in C++ or Object Pascal (Delphi), derived classes can't refer to or use it. What's the point? How could the person writing the base class possibly know that no derived classes in the future will ever need to use the private members? Why does the language even allow that?

Norton seems to screw up my computer. And is there a site where I can download either a full version or a trial version of the other software for free so I can see how it works with my computer. I would hate to pay for something that wont work the way I need it too.

My friend has about 450MB of files that she wishes to save before replacing her old computer. They are all word documents. However, she does not appear to have a disc drive that burns discs, only one which plays them. Therefore a CD-R or CD-RW is pretty useless. She is not connected to the internet so cannot send them as an attachment to my computer. It would take far too many floppies. Any suggestions? She does not want to loose the files. I hope you can suggest something. Thankyou in advance.

I want to make a DVD, but I keep on having troubles with the CDs I'm using.
I've tried CD-R, but that was a mistake and so the other day I got DVD-RW. I thought this would work, but neither have ended up working. They work on the computer, but nowhere else.

What mistake am I making? I've tried a few programmes and different methods of getting the video onto the DVD.
Do I need to use a different type of CD?

As you can tell, I haven't made a DVD before.

Explain this?
On a pc, when you click properties:
Size is 300byte, size on disk is 30 kb, why the difference?

what does size and size on disk mean>>??

Also, why is it that when you right click a folder icon on the pc desktop, in properties, the size is only 80kb and when I high - lited all the files in the folder and then right clicked, the properties showed there is more than 5 Gb of data...

Right now I am backing up my files, I don't know if it makes any difference if I back up the shortcut icons on the desktop comparing to the "real file", or maybe they are the same thing??

hmmm......HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If not, have you seen a projected date?

I got a new Dell with Vista back in April and then reverted to XP about a month later. But if there is a service pack available, I'm curious to try Vista again.

OKay.. Heres whats wrong with my home - built gaming computer.

The first motherboard I bought was D.O.A. and would not even make the lights of the case turn on. I got a replacement. This one, atleast turns my computer on and makes the lights and fans move BUT it will not send a signal to my monitor. The board has an onboard NVidia 6100 card that I tried, but I also tried my own working video card. Still No signal to my WORKING monitor. Heres a list of parts I KNOW work ...

RAM, Monitor, Vid Card, Power Supply, Monitor Cable

Someone told me I may need to flash the bios on my board by using a less powerful processor. I currently have an AM2 dual core on a compatible Jetway board with 1 Gig of RAM.

I need to know HOW to flash the bios with a different processor, if I even need to use a different processor, or ANY other suggestions of what my problem might be. There is no beeping sound, just FYI.

My flash drive was full so I deleted almost everything, but it still won't let me save other files on it saying it's memory is still full. Can I get that storage space back? or did I just delete all my files for nothing?

My computer at home runs very slow. My kids play a lot of on-line games, could this be it? I don't think they actually install anything though.
