I want to make a DVD, but I keep on having troubles with the CDs I'm using.
I've tried CD-R, but that was a mistake and so the other day I got DVD-RW. I thought this would work, but neither have ended up working. They work on the computer, but nowhere else.

What mistake am I making? I've tried a few programmes and different methods of getting the video onto the DVD.
Do I need to use a different type of CD?

As you can tell, I haven't made a DVD before.

I already have a DVD writer.

You need a DVD writer, not a CD writer. Use either a DVD+ or DVD- disk, whichever is compatible with your drive. Most but all drives are compatible with either disk.

For an editing program, I use the free program DVD Styler. See the link below.

If your trying to put a downloaded movie onto a dvd burn it using convertxtodvd. Use a DVD-R. It does everything you require with no more than 3 clicks. You can download it,and they have a free trial period this is of course providing you have a dvd burner installed on your Comp
(which I see you say you have)

Depending on your burner, use dvd-r or dvd+r discs; to burn your video files to dvd, use Sothink Movie Dvd Maker, free here
http://www.download.com/Sothink-Movie-DVD-Maker/3000-13631_4-10669083.html?tag=lst-4

it has an easy to follow wizard which will walk you through the process; good luck.

For burning DVDs i recommend "DVD flick"

It is a freeware programme but it is brilliant.

Download it from www.dvdflick.net
