Norton seems to screw up my computer. And is there a site where I can download either a full version or a trial version of the other software for free so I can see how it works with my computer. I would hate to pay for something that wont work the way I need it too.

(You'd be hard-pressed to find one that ISN'T better than Norton, IMHO.)

Try AVG - http://www.grisoft.com
...They have both an anti-virus package and a companion anti-spyware package, both of which come in a trial version for 30 days, then continue as "limited function" free versions forever. (The "limited function" means mostly that you have to the definitions updates and the scans by hand instead of scheduling them automatically - just remember to do it!)

I don't know about a free trial or anything but I love McAffee. I prefer them greatly over Norton.

AVG is great. My husband and I have our house set up as a network. We have more than 3 computers in our house and we only trust AVG. It has worked very well for our family and computer needs.

AVG is ok but Kaspersky is great. Kaspersky is more complicated then the average user can deal with though you have been warned.
