My flash drive was full so I deleted almost everything, but it still won't let me save other files on it saying it's memory is still full. Can I get that storage space back? or did I just delete all my files for nothing?

You could format it;
When you plug it in go to My Computer, you'll see the drive letter, right click it and select Format; this will entirely wipe out all data on your USB key.

empty the recycle bin
or remove the drive and plug it back in, might need to reset the space

Try doing a defrag on it.
