I read in a magazine that by year 2010 Microsoft will not provide support for x86 computers anymore but I doubt that. Most of x86 computers are running windows XP that is way to successful and popular to spot support.

Hey NEWS FLASH..................
What do you think they are running on their computers? Dah?
They got to have an os!
Win2000 is more the big corp. business os. Win XP good for small bus. Both are good, but 2000 is bit more complicated.
Vista is still considered beta, Any new os that is put out is buggy....considered beta....Not a good idea to try until they iron out all the quirks and bugs. That goes for the updates too.
They haven't quit supporting 2000 or XP. They have stopped updating win 95,98,ME, & NT. Did you know that XP home was at first called vista? That's what I read. So as far as I know, that's the scoop!

XP support will cease in 2011, so plenty of time yet
Whats more, discontinue doesnt meant it wont work, we still run a bunch of NT4 servers for large business clients, and still installing 2000 servers this year.

They won't be cutting XP support off for probably the next four years or so (at least). Vista is still too new and still has many compatibility and security issues they have to fix. Eventually, all predecessors will be discontinued.

I know they stopped supporting Vista service pack 1, but not service pack 2. Like now none of the upgrades they have work with service pack 1.
