Could be from your real player
because it tends to take control of your
volume.
open real player and take the volume
knob all the way to the right.
This happened to me too.

There are several things that might have happened.
Firstly, check the volume control. Go to control panel, select 'Sounds and Audio Devices', and select your soundcard. Check there's no little '!' next to it to say there's something wrong with it. If there's not, open the volume properties (or tell it to display the volume properties in the toolbar) and check your volume's not set to 0, or mute. There's also a keyboard mute button the Viao - Can't remember what it is off the top of my head, but it's on the keyboard. I think you press 'ctrl' and one of the other keys. The key should be marked with a little picture of a crossed-out speaker, next to the volume keys.
If there's still no sound, open up the control panel again, go to system, then 'device manager'. Look for your audio controller or sound card on that list. Right click on it, and select 'reload driver'. Put your installation CD in, and allow it to search for the driver automatically.

If you still don't have any sound, try putting a cd in your drive and plugging headphones into the socket on the front of the drive (if there is one). You may find that will bypass your software and play direct out of the headphone socket on the disk drive. If this works, then the fault is probably with your software. You might benefit from reinstalling windows, but make sure you've got the full install disk from sony before you start.

Check if you still get a 'ping' noise when windows has an error, and if so, you know the fault is with the software you're using to play cds/games with. Reinstall media player / any faulty games.

Feel free to post more if you get further info.

you could't in simple terms lose a valid card without understanding it. Are you effective you do not have your audio on mute. you could examine that by clicking the speaker icon on the bottom tray of the video demonstrate. If that would not fix the project then bypass to "administration Panel" and click on it then seem for an icon or link that announces "sound and audio gadgets" (or some thing like that). click on it and seem for a tab that announces "audio". click on it and it furnish you with the call of your sound card. If a acceptance seems there then you definately have a valid card. Now it ought to no longer paintings. So next bypass the motive force direction. it is also attainable to have the skill to roll again your previous motive force. seem for a motive force for that sound card and your operating equipment. attempt installation that. If that would not paintings then you definately ought to attempt installation a valid card yet once you've in no way executed this then it might nicely be complicated, noticeably in a workstation.

check the volume knob. If that is set correctly, try a reboot. If that still does not work, see a computer geek or specialist. They may have to diagnose the internal reason.
