I have heard many stories that the CIA, FBI whatever monitor every one and everything that I type look at as well as what i say on the computer as well as the telephone... any truth to that?

I really urgent need to knw wat's the problem. I try to connect the network via my USB wireless adaptor but it only can connect a while then disconnect again, i tried several time also the same, the error msg show "this connection has limited or no connectivity. U might not be able to access the internet or some network resources" and "error IP Address". My house is wif wireless network connection and my other housemate have not encounter any problem at all so is it impossible the modem problem right?

Is the DVD ripper and converter Handbrake safe (and by safe as in not spammy or virusy)? Also, can it be uninstalled by just using an uninstaller included in the program?

Right now, the only maintenance I do is...
Once a week I scan with Norton Antivirus,
about every 2 weeks I run SpyBot and Adaware.
I know this is bad, that there are several more things I should be doing.
Should I scandisc regularly?
Should I be defragging?
Should I be deleting temporary internet files, are there other files that should be deleted, on the regular basis? How do I get rid of all the ones that need to go?
What else do I need to do to get my computer running at an optimal level?
How do I check for and get rid of problems like... incomplete programs that did not install or un-install correctly, hardware installation and un-installation, unused and corrupted drivers.
Also what programs should be regularly updated, for example...Java, Quicktime, flashplayer, DirectX, Shockwave player? Do you know of any sites, where I can check to see if I need updated versions of any of these or other needed programs.
Should I check on updating my ActiveX controls, how?

I have a hard drive that is fully functional from a friend whose laptop monitor died and cracked (he punched it). I am trying to recover all his data, music, pictures off of his hard drive. He was running Windows XP.

When I attached the HD to my PC via USB and HD enclosure, I see a bunch of windows files, but I can't access his documents, music, etc.

Is there any security problems I might have to deal with to get through?

Any other potential problems that I'm overlooking?

Usually when I hook this up, I can see all files, etc. Don't know what is going on with this one...

have updated firmware, driver. it disconnects me for like 5-20 seconds every couple minutes. it's on the main computer(xp, sp2) the other two computers do not get disconnected, only the main computer. its not filter either. and i dont think its the ISP since the other computers dont get disconnected. 2 year old actiontec modem. thanks

I have Comcast high speed internet that is about 8 MB. It's connected with a motorola modem. I bought a new HP laptop, that has wireless networking. i just bought a compaq desktop yesterday and was wondering if it should come with a windows vista cd or recovery disc of some sort cos all i got were 2 dvd rewritables
also, is it ok to create more volumes on the disk while it is updating or should i do that before or after?

I forgot my password for my computer so im trying to start in safe mode by going through F8. But when I choose Safe Mode it just keeps going back to the screen that gives the options of Safe mode, safe mode netwoking..etc..why is it i cant get it into safe mode?

Well I just got my laptop back I went through a whole deal with the repair people and they dropped mine ended up giving me a new one but this new one doesn't seem to have any sound ...or it doesn't work...so how do I install the sound...do I need to use the restore cds? I don't know if I have them...when I click on the sound thingy it says there is no sound thingy installed to go to control panel and then sound or something hardware and click add but it doesn't do anything or maybe its just me. So if somebody knows how I can fix this please help me out. Thanks

Lately my laptop has been acting strangely. When it goes into standby and I bring it back or sometimes randomly it will get a really choppy hard to explain picture and then turn black and wont come back. Someone told me that it is fairly shared ,but I see programs like Limewire ,it pull nearly all connection speed for itself and other download from Internet explorer etc... goes slow
