I have being using windows since windows 98 and have tried every one since then and i believe without not regrets that this time MS will not make the same mistake that they did with ME or 2000, I'm using vista since February and it is awesome works fine on my AMD based computer. As XP it has his faults but remember XP needed 2 services pack before it became a must have. MS said that they will release a first service pack late his year so that should make vista more use full that it already is. At the beginning there where some issues about software's compatibilities but right now that is not a problem. The only thing that i find on vista is that requires too much RAM and a Dual core processor, but now is not that hard to find a good PC with this type of processor for a decent price.

Everyone says xp.I will have to disagree. I think vista makes xp look like a cheap cartoon.Kinda like driving a old car or a new one.SP1 for vista is coming soon. Then the cartoon will become a commercal then eventully go off air.Vista is the future kinda like Xp was few years ago.As time passes the MB turns to GB then to TB what then??????

I got a free upgrade to vista. It looks nifty, buy then one day I tuned on my computer and... "operating system not found" That's about the worst thing your computer can say to you. It was almost like it was joking. (tee hee no operating system). All my summer homework was deleted. The point is, I have XP again, and my computer is working better. I would go with XP at least for now. Besides, haven't you heard about the secret song hidden on XP computers? Learn about it on metacafe.com

XP for compatibility and reliability. Vista if you want something pretty to look at.

to tell you the truth...

i prefer vista. now, before people start disagreeing with me, think about it... better games right?

it just depends on what you want to do... games are better on vista (directx 10)

Windows XP is alot more reliable, but has alot more registry errors

Vista is much clumsier than XP and isn't very streamlined. That takes 2-3 prompts just to delete one file is one of the many irritants. It's not a bad OS, it's just badly handled.

XP
Positive:
-More compatible
-Less Buggy
-Lighter on system requirements (meaning more resources left for you to run programs)

Negative:
-Not as pretty
-No built-in partitioner (But is compatible with Partition Magic)

Vista
Positive:
-Direct X 10
-Windows Media Center
-Prettier
-Built-in Partitioner (But good partitioning programs like Partition Magic aren't compatible)

Negative:
-Compatibility problems
-Resource hog (less resources available to run programs)
-Buggy
