Computers & Internet - 7 October 2006

I'm one of those long-time PC users (over 10 years) that is on the verge of switching to an Apple PowerBook (a laptop). I'm not a novice in using Apples; but I do have some reservations in switching. The PowerBook would be my main laptop at home - but my office is on a PC-platform. My main concern is being able to open files from work on the Apple laptop.

Should I stick with what I know (Sony VAIO) or be daring and buy the new thing (PowerBook)? I'm sorta stumped!!

My Office 2003 installation CD will not autorun on my computer?

Have Windows XP. No error message - simply displays the CD directory. Same installation CD works fine on other PC's.

I can't get on to any msn sites?

I can't figure this one out. I can get on msn.com, but nothing else. I can't sign in, access hotmail, or ANY of the links on the msn homepage. I can access my hotmail account through the internet on my cell phone, so I'm assuming it has to do with my PC. I checked all the security settings in internet options, I checked my antivirus program, firewalls, etc. I am lost for an answer. Any ideas?

What is the easiest way to move about 15 mp3's from my PC to a Mac?

I need to put them on my iPod. I don't have a flash drive, but if that is the best way, I could get one. It's about 80 MB. Thanks.

HELP!!! cd-rom not working. Can anyone help?

Okay heres the deal....The cd-rom doesn't work. it just will not read the discs and when i try to do it manual still nothing. when i go to my computer and click on the icon for cd-ron i get a box that pops up saying "D:" "is not accesible" and "this devices not ready". Okay then i go to my control panel and click system properties. when i click on the cd-rom from there it brings up a box, when i click general tab it says this device is working properly. when i click the settings tab it has three things checked. options disconn.,auto insert, and DMA. so i'm confused one thing is saying that its working properly andthe says its not accessible....wtf!!! the drive its in is D:.....please help if you can. Did it just take a sh!t or is it something i can fix.

whats a good file hosting site?

i want to upload mp3s like www.ripway.com and have a http://answers.yahoo.com/jimmy-helpme.mp3
type link so i can use a java program to play songs on myspace.i dont know i think they call that hotlinking??....the problem with ripway is they limit thier bandwith and charge alot for an upgrade and i was wondering if i get a account with someone like www.godaddy.com will that work out??

How do you use a powerpoint on your computer at home not tat school?

i have always just done my home work that neened a powerpoint at school and now i got home i that thing says i need to buy a prodcut key with a crdit card! i'm a kid that's needs to do my home work!! When i go into help it doesn't help me. and to be onest i'm getting a littl sleepy and mad with it!
