Can anyone tell me how I can update my WINDOWS 2000 PRO from FAT32 to an NTFS file system without deleteing anything that is already on my hard-drive?

Here is the process: be advised you should back up your data files just to be safe...


To convert a FAT partition to NTFS, perform the following steps.
1.Click Start, click Programs, and then click Command Prompt.
2.At the command prompt, type CONVERT [driveletter]: /FS:NTFS.
3.Convert.exe will attempt to convert the partition to NTFS.

CONVERT may present the following error:
Convert cannot gain exclusive access to the [driveletter]:, so it cannot convert it now. Would you like to schedule it to be converted the next time the system restarts (Y/N)?
This error will occur if any of the following three conditions exist:

Download Norton PartitionMagic 8. You can buy it or get it here for free with the serial as a torrent. If u dont kno about torrents, read below.

Make sure u have a torrent downloader. Click here and then click the 3rd choice: http://www.utorrent.com/download.php

Now click here to get the Norton Partitionmagic torrent file: http://www.mybittorrent.com/software/bittorrent_137774.html

When u download the torrent file, open it in the utorrent program and download it. When u install etc, make sure u click the turtorial and use the help index so u wudnt do anythin wrong. Laterz.

Yeah, what Lloyd said, use partition magic. Non-destrictive to data, and will convert fat32 to ntfs no problems.

There's usually a utility under the computer manufacturer's tools to perform the conversion. Make a backup just in case, but I've never had any trouble with it.
