I'm one of those long-time PC users (over 10 years) that is on the verge of switching to an Apple PowerBook (a laptop). I'm not a novice in using Apples; but I do have some reservations in switching. The PowerBook would be my main laptop at home - but my office is on a PC-platform. My main concern is being able to open files from work on the Apple laptop.

Should I stick with what I know (Sony VAIO) or be daring and buy the new thing (PowerBook)? I'm sorta stumped!!

You sure are in a tricky situation. As far as compatibility goes, its undoubtedly the VAIO.But if you want to be utra cool, PowerBook is the way to go.Again compatibility shouldn't become a big issue here as I know lot of people who use different platforms (Win and AppleOS) at work and home.It finally depends on your confidence. If u believe that you can work on both,PowerBook should give you a pleasant change!!!!

Read this on switching to a Mac. http://www.apple.com/support/switch101/
Your Mac can open and read files from a PC.

PowerBooks uses PPC G4 chip which Apple is phasing out for Intel chips. But that shouldn't discourage you if you are getting a PowerBook, Apple still gives support to PPC based Macs.
The new PowerBooks are now called Mac Books and Mac Book Pros that uses Intel chips.

properly this is the way it particularly works agencies reproduction one yet another, look on the cellular telephone designs, all agencies have a similar styles of designs for his or her telephones Nokia is in all possibility busy designing a telephone that slides to the side like the HTC, in the event that they have not already designed it. only placed it is the way it particularly works. ;)
