No it doesn't hurt to leave your computer on. It's less wear & tear on your hard drive to leave it on than to turn it of and on and make it work its a$$ off to boot back up. as far as electricity it might run you $2-$3 more a month too that's it. Don't listen to anybody tell you otherwise. If you are worried about the electrical cost just turn off the monitor.

No it is not bad at all. First off hard drives work better and last longer without too many reboots. They are actually rated by how many times it is turned on. Second if you are worried about electricity you can go into your setting and change how your computer works, you can set it up to turn the monitor off after a certain amount of none use, you can have the computer hibernate or sleep. I have had my computers on non stop for about 3 years so far. I have only rebooted after installing software or after upgrades form Windows update.

If you are talking about the internal components, there could be added wear and tear on your hard drive, unless you have your settings set to shut off the hard drive after so many minutes of inactivity.
You can also check the surface where you place your computer, if it is a laptop, and see if that is hot. there are times when continued heat buildup can fry video components and motherboards. There are stands that keep the computer off the surface and some even have a fan.
If you are still connected to the internet and leaving your computer on and unattended for hours, you probably have a death wish for your computer, your identity info, and your data.
I Hope you are not doing this last one.

Your computer is fine when you leave it on all of the time. You're going to want a new pc bacause yours has become obsolete long before it breaks from being left on. However, turning your pc off will conserve energy and save you dough. I turn mine on standby each night. I find this is the best of both worlds because it saves power AND starts back up quickly.

Not really. Advisable to do it in a air conditioned room to keep the comp cool. If u not using the computer at all u shud shut it down. The parts life in the computer will be extended. Think of a light bulb, if u keep it on and on, the bulbs life will finish quicker than if u keep it off when u are not using it. Laterz.

No... it's actually more harm-full to turn it on and off all the time. Think of a light bulb, they rarely go out when they are on -- they blow when they are first turned back on.
The only negative to leaving your computer on is energy use. If your cooling fan is in good working order and have sufficient ventilation, I wouldn't worry about it.
If you are going to have it on all the time, as I have since1995, you can use your computers idle cycles to help advance science http://www.ud.com/index.php

An argument can be m,ade either way.
If you do not plan on using your computer for an extended period, lets say over a couple of hours then you should turn it off.
Some people will say that by shutting it off and on it creates wear on hardware such as your hard drive. Modern day drives are made to last and will not junk out like older hard drives used to.

If you consider the coal or natural gas burned to run the generators to make the electricity you're wasting, then yes, it hurts. You are wasting natural resources and killing future generations. If mass murder does not bother you, then leave the thing on. It'll be obsolete before it breaks anyway.

Doesn't seem to be a problem. My internet machine is 8 years old and only gets rebooted when it shows signs of bogging down or I unplug it for lightning storms. I power down the monitor at night.
