had trouble opening windows xp,i tried opening with last configuration and even normally,finally windows opened by using a restoration point,this has happened twice,does anybody know why?

My Mom's computer was saying it was missing DLL files..a lot of them. I told her she needs to have Windows (98) reinstalled, but she can't afford to pay so much. Her computer is basically a no name brand and was built by someone when she bought it. Anyway, I have win Xp and NT and tryed to install it for her, it shut down like it was reading the disks but when it restarted it stopped. Now it just shows a screen showing the hard drive, memory, etc and nothing else. I have MS Dos on a disk too but I can't get it to copy it. I am obviously not that computer literate but usually can manage my own pc. Please tell me anything I can do. She is wanting to just buy another used computer that someone has built and I know it is a waste. Her hard drive is pretty good if I can figure out this software problem. Thanks

I had to destroy all my old files and restart my computer a month ago. Since then, whenever I had to install software that required me to be connected to the internet, my computer says it's not connected to the internet. I can't watch videos on the internet cuz WMV say there's not a connection to the internet. Have anyone been through this? What do I have to do to connect my computer to the internet?.

My 4 year old toshiba satellite is now making noises when I tilt it or put any pressure (resting hands) over the area of the hard drive. It sounds like the hard drive is wobbling or jamming. If I keep tilting it the computer goes to the blue error screen and the computer restarts. Is my hard drive about to die me? Think there is somekind of fix for it?

I could earlier and now when i go to my inbox and click on an e-mail it wont open. It takes so long that it like times me out and send me to the page that says it couldnt open that web page ???

My mom accidently deleted some file that controlled the volume. I learned this when i opened limewire to play music and nothing would play. For those of you familiar with LimeWire you know that there is the play bar in the lower right hand corner. When i click on a song to play not only do i not hear anything but limewire shows no evidence that a song is even being played. I went to the control panel and sound devices to check if it was deleted. It said that there was NO sound device detected. Unfortunately this is all i know of the problem. But NO sound will play anywhere. My speakers are fine also. I use Windows XP and my computer is an EMachines model. If anyone has any info on how to fix this problem please let me know. Thanks.

My keyboard works when the computer boots up but it freezes when I am about to type my password in my profile. What seems to be the problem? They say it has something to do with BIOS and stuff but I already checked the Boot Menu (F12 while the computer boots). The keyboard also works if I'm in the troubeshooting menu (F8). I can run the tests and pass them but thr tests doesn't help as well. I can't figure it out. Someone please help. Thanks so much!

It takes like 3 1/2 hrs.. the computer is not that old and the DVD burner is brand new. How can I speed up the burning process. Can I set it to only decode just the main movie..... what can I do?

Is there a way to easily (or not so easily) merge the contents of multiple speradsheets into one? The way our system works, it exracts info for different dates, all with the same fields, into a separate spreadsheet for each day. I need to consolodate these, while staying in date order. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.
