had trouble opening windows xp,i tried opening with last configuration and even normally,finally windows opened by using a restoration point,this has happened twice,does anybody know why?

What kind of windows are they wood or what if wood sounds like they hove been painted closed if so take a 5in1 tool and run down the inside and outside of windows where the window meets the jam then pry open carefully after opening need to lub.with soap or wax.work window up and down several times before locking.

If you were IM on Microsoft, than you may have big time problem. Saw were that service was full of Magellan virus. Give it a rest over night and try restoring. Best of luck.

I think there is a program that windows is trying to load on startup that has an incomplete installation/uninstallation, or corrupt files. Try
the disk check utility, and go into safe mode and uninstall any drivers or programs you are not using.

its an hp isnt it you poor person the only way is to reformat the hard drive leaving windows you will have to call hp to get the system specific instructions to do this also backup all the FILES NOT PROGRAMS you need there is a bright side you clean up all the junk you dont need
