My keyboard works when the computer boots up but it freezes when I am about to type my password in my profile. What seems to be the problem? They say it has something to do with BIOS and stuff but I already checked the Boot Menu (F12 while the computer boots). The keyboard also works if I'm in the troubeshooting menu (F8). I can run the tests and pass them but thr tests doesn't help as well. I can't figure it out. Someone please help. Thanks so much!

It's a windows driver error. Boot into safe mode, remove the existing driver and reboot, Windows should fix itself from here.

Step 1: Remove(Unplug) the Keyboard from the computer's jack and then shutdown computer for 1 minute.complete power off from the switch.

Step 2 : Plug the keyboard back and resatrt computer to check again.

If this fails, go to safe Mode as computer restarts start tapping F8 key on keyboard and you wuill get windows advanced Menu options and select using up & Down arrow keys Safe Mode.

Try that. If your key board is running ok in safe mode, check device manager.

Go to the store and buy a $6 keyboard make sure its just not the keyboard. Sometimes my computer won't let me type in the password, hit ctrl-alt-del and it brings up the old windows nt login which should work.

Since you used the keyboard in a different computer and it worked fine, I would recommend trying a different keyboard in your computer. Sounds like driver incompatibility or a possible bent pin. Also is your keyboard wireless? If so, replace batteries.

try going into the device manager. if your in xp right click the my computer icon choose 'properties' go to the hardware tab and click on the device manager. find your keyboard and see if it is working properly. also try unpluging the keyboard and plugging it back it. or you can also try update the driver with windows update.
