Computers & Internet - 17 August 2006

FireFox sort of stopped working. I was using it and it froze. So I Xed out of it. Then I tried to reopen it. It didn't come up what came up was a small user box, that said default. It wouldn't let me go in what I already was in. All my bookmarks are on my old user list, is there anyway to get them back with out having to search for them all again and them add them.

If this has happened to anyone else do you know why firefox does this?

I think I have some weird stuff going on but Mcaffee says no viruses found. When I click to go to different sites I hear a clicking sound every time. Also, what is the best settings for the exceptions tab in the firewall?

I'm always seeing this thing that says I have to log in to my account just to use my internet. I have a Westell modem and it always happens, cuz when the internet light is green, I still gotta log in! What's happened?

I have an enhanced CD that I want to listen to in itunes on a PC. In my Mac I can see both the audio disc icon and the music video "special" icon and can choose the audio disc to listen. In a PC, it only pops up the video and you can't listen to the songs. I want to know if it can be unhidden. I see a Macromedia Director icon. Changing the Folder Options did not work.

Any tips?

I had messenger open, and have a few friends on my buddy list. I also have my own screen name as well. I hit a mouse gesture and all of buddys disappeared, except my screen name stayed.

I still have my "Address Book" with my buddys but my "messenger list" is only my screen name.

How do I get my buddys to show back up??

It has been 2 years since I got my computer and I want to try to modify its looks. But I have to have a list of the hardware in it. Processor, harddisk, ram etc. Their product names, numbers and years etc. A program or a section of Windows itself?

i have an ide primary drive for programs, and a secondary drive for all my data. problem - when i burn a dvd from the second drive it takes about 45 mins. if i take the data to be burned, copy it over to the primary drive, the burn takes about 15mins. wtf?

question - why does it take so long to burn/move/copy data to/from the secondary drive?

settings seem right, master/slave....etc. funny thing, i have an external usb2.0 drive, same make and model as the secondary internal drive, and even the external is faster than the secondary. i don't understand. any help would be much appreciated.
