er, I would like to be able to play it on my tv . can anyone help me

if your tv or dvd player is not a newer model, it won't play
burned dvd's.

1. what did you burn, did it come up as a data disc when put back in computer? modern day DVD video format is also data, but it does have its own structure to follow.

2. simple Disc-At-Once, no Multisession, nor anyother expansion/re-use feature should be selected.

3. how old is the player hooking to TV? better yet look into the manual see if it reads DVD-R or DVD+R burnt discs.

first you need to finalize the burn session on the disc, no multi-session.

and need a dvd player that can read dvd-r-rw, most common on new ones, first generations players doesn't support burned dvds
