Firstly a BIG thank you to all who answered my first question. Well managed to get the Control Panel up (used the flying window thingy - thank you!) Now I went into Menu and Task Bar options in Control Panel, deselected and reselected authohide task bar - now it appears if I point the mouse there but if I use the mouse or move away from the task bar it disappears (very disconcerting) Any advice much appreciated!

I just recently finished building my newest computer, and it wasn't till i was downloading the drivers that I realized that my optical drive (dvddl, lightscribe, all that good stuff) can run on either IDE or SATA.... I installed it using the IDE, but it's not too much trouble to switch it to SATA. My question is, how big of a difference will it make on an optical drive by switching. The drive is fast enough, and will rip a 192kbps wmapro in ~10seconds, so it's not like it's crawling, but would there me any advantage? (I'd prefer not to switch, to avoid having a CMOS nightmare)

hi, i'v got two times and i want to caculate the differernce between them. they are both Strings so will i have to convert them into milliseconds first or is there a way to do the calculation directly?

I just purchased a new Macbook and I am wondering if I will need to buy a wireless internet card of some sort or if I will be able to connect to a wireless network automatically. Any help would be appreciated.
Also if anyone knows how to acess a wireless connection in a public place like a coffee shop and can give me some advice that would be helpful as well.

I have lost the start menu bar that appears at the bottom of my screen. Also I went into the "My Computer" icon and tried to display the settings in Control Panel, and I hve lost the "My Computer" icon as well, I am curently running a virus check (which is taking forever btw). I'm sitting here drinking red wine (no im not old at all..just 21) and it's a fairly good wine...a 1999 Barolo Red Wine. i'm somewhat tipsy right now, and I reached over for my glass and it spilled on my keyboard. I have 2 computers...im on my laptop..it spilled on my Computer..not my laptop. What do i Do??? I have the keyboard unplugged upside down on a towel. My monitor turns blank (blacks out) every once in a while, and it's becoming bothersome, because its increasing in frequency. Does it have to do with this site I visited that made my monitor flash to the beat of the background music? How do I fix it? I've already ran a full system virus scan, ad-ware scan, and spyware scan to no avail.

I have a Dell desktop at home. I wanted my laptop to be a Mac. I do not game, I would only use it for internet browsing, music and photos/home movies most importantly school, which means I need Microsoft word, and powerpoint and Adobe to be compatible. Also will the data on my desktop be able to be transferred to the Macbook? Thanks!
