Computers & Internet - 13 August 2006

I have a Mustek 1200 UB plus scanner. And the cords to plug it in. Its plugged into my USB port. Now what do I do to get it working? Ive been frustrating myself for the better part of my day trying to figure this crap out, I just find files called "frontends" and "backends" and drivers, etc... I think I downloaded the correct driver, but idk where it is, what it does, or ANYTHING, someone please give me step by step simple instructions to get it working, PLEASE, and thanks!

I am running Windows XP Professional Edition on an older system and I recently disabled a bunch of the services in order to make it run more efficiently. Basically, if I didn't know what it did, I disabled it. Now the scroll wheel on my mouse is no longer functional. Which of the services do I need to enable in order to make the scroll wheel work again?

Even typing this question is extremely annoying. The computer is running super slow. I noticed that some procesesses such as explore.exe, svchost.exe, nod32.exe, and iexplorer.exe are taking a lot of CPU Usage in the task manager. I would like to know how can I fix this problem.
