I am running Windows XP Professional Edition on an older system and I recently disabled a bunch of the services in order to make it run more efficiently. Basically, if I didn't know what it did, I disabled it. Now the scroll wheel on my mouse is no longer functional. Which of the services do I need to enable in order to make the scroll wheel work again?

YIKES---How about---- go to restore system in your control panel and start over----the problem is it's hard to know what you are clearing out of your computer as file names and program descriptions can be pretty obscure...When in doubt leave it in.....You have the professional edition so I assume you are a pretty experienced user....Give it a shot....you should have your scroll wheel back in a few minutes...

i'm a laptop specialist. My strong point is hardware. in case you want to disable the mouse wheel for "residing house windows XP" (or any operating equipment for that matter) I propose that you discover the screw(s) that holds the mouse jointly, open up the mouse and entirely eliminate the mouse wheel. as far as i comprehend there is not any everyday thanks to disable the mouse wheel everywhere else till you've a application that you install that facilitates you to show screen your mouse's understanding and permits you to disable the mouse wheel.
