Nortorn’s Anti Virus is one of the top choices today that you can purchase.
I am not a total Symantec (They own Nortorn’s Anti-virus) lover, I just give insight from experience and professional training.
While Nortorn’s Anti-Virus has some issues with being a memory and cpu resource hog, it also uses that memory and cpu for a better scanning engine.
What others don’t tell you because they think their “FREE” anti virus are better because they have it and couldn’t figure out Nortorn’s Anti-Virus is:
The top 4-6 Anti-Virus companies share the same database. These are companies that charge you for Anti-Virus and have some of the best think tanks in the world. One week McAfee might come up with risk assessment of a new virus and they get Props for finding it first and being the first company to find a cure for it. That doesn’t make them better; it’s just about who finds it first and bragging rights etc.
The newest threats in the last few years have come from what they call “Blended threats.”
If you do some research on that term, you will find that is how most virus issues have found their way into the “free anti-virus” programs. Those are some of the issues that I have fixed with users (former users of AVG etc..) on a monthly basis.
I’m not saying that Nortorn’s is with out issues, because they have had security issues with their drivers. I’m not saying that McAfee is better because they had the same seurity issues with their firewalls. Each of those companies is vulnerable to a new virus, though less then the “Freebie Programs” out there. Anti-Virus is re-active, (You need to see a virus infection before you can create a cure it) and if it’s a new blended threat, it can just flatten any anti-virus program.
What I am saying is that Nortorn’s Anti-Virus has had the least amount of “virus” related service calls that I receive.
A decent free program is better then no Anti-Virus any day.
As far as SBC is concerned, if they just cover your internet gateway and email, that isn’t good enough. You still need Anti-Virus to run local on your machine.
I hope this helps, good luck

I wouldnt get SBC, because ISP tools are usually a little weak. I also wouldnt pay for Norton or McAfee. If I were you, I would get AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. It is a great program and detects viruses and trojans that Norton and McAfee cannot. It availible for free from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-free

Everytime I used Norton it caused more pop ups and problems. You can download a version of spypot free and also Ad-aware se personal the simple trial version . You can get a version of Avast free for your home. All of these are very good products. You can also get a version of AVG free. This is a lot of good services. My recomendations is that you download each of these products for your computer.

hi, I think Norton is better. , but you should pay for the software.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:
