it comes up when I start my comp and conitnues to pop up whenever I open a new program or try to do anything on the internet. So if my computer is on during the day I have about 100 of these wee windows. It goes something like Registry Editor: Cannot import orgs.reg. ....... then says the file might be missing or damaged. It doesn't always come up but 90% of the time it does.

A friend of my father's recently got this text message from Yahoo! Mail stating that he - or rather his cellphone number - had won over a thousand bucks in a drawing, under a contest known as the '2006 Yahoo! Mid-Year Gift Dash'. It was an odd message, since we are in Oman, and Yahoo! hasn't percolated so much in this country for our cellphone numbers to become part of a contest. So I sent an e-mail to the address they had given, and the recipient replied with a fancy no-holds-barred message about the contest details. Apparently, Yahoo! is celebrating its 11th birthday, and has decided to pick up 100 numbers at random from all over the world and reward them halfway thru the year with money - the e-mail looks fake however, even with all the disclaimers and 'copyrights' (for one thing, there is a Santa Claus GIF). Is this a real contest (and if so, how come I haven't seen any mention of it on the 'Net), or am I just paranoid?

Picked up a DVD burner at Staples last night. It was branded as an I/O Magic 16X Dual Format Dual Layer Internal Drive.

I know that I/O Magic sells whatever they get their hands on, so it could be an LG, LiteOn, BenQ, etc. It is definitely NOT what the box says.

According to Nero, the drive I got does +/- and RAM. Also, the tray has DVD3 Multiple Format DVD Rewriteable and DCS (Dual Cooling System) stamped on the front. In device manageer, all that lists is DVD DC 16X8X5.

Final part of this is that the Nero disk that came with it also installed LightScribe support, which other installs I have done never did. Not sure if this is standard of the version of Nero supplied (6.6.6.3) or if the installer picked up on the fact that this drive is capable of LightScribe, so installed it for me.

Anyway, machine is back to client now so I can't get more info. Just wondering what they actually got - more than they paid for, but no big deal.

I have always had windows XP so I don't know what the problem is. I also tried to download that The new Windows LiveTM Messenger Beta & the same answer comes up. I am not sure what I am supposed to do to get either anymore. And how are you supposed to upgrade your windows XP? I am at a loss. I have never had any problems downloading MSN messenger before. I had problem with my server. It replies error "200" for every file that bots try to find. The problem is that when bots looking for robots.files server says 200 and because we don't have a robots.txt files bots said we will back later crawling your contents.
