try to remove the Yahoo widget from the start menu
Clean your computer with a program named CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com)
Click on the Tools>Startup and control the programs who start when Windows start Perform an antivirus and a ad-ware check

Widgets, like any other applications, require memory (RAM). If your computer has less than 512 Megs, even small applications --like widgets--can make things slow down. It is possible that when you attempted to uninstall the widgets they were not removed completely. Open your task manager and look for widgets on the processes tab. If you see any, click on them and then click "end process." Things should speed up.

if you dont have a anti virus/anti spyware/ firewall all in one try ZoneAlarm Internet

when on the website click on home/home office
