I've had my driver's license for a year. I passed my road test with no point deducted. I started driving last summer and one time, i tried to park, and i moved my feet to the accelerator pedal wanting to move forward, and then forgot and thought that my feet was still on the brake pedal, stepped on it, almost hit a person about 3 feet away. Since then, i'm really questioning my driving skills, have nightmares about hitting someone, and i generally panic when i'm driving in heavy traffic, or at atypical intersections. I have to drive for work, what should I do?

I was watching that "How is it Made?" on the Discovery Channel, and they were showing the assembly of a semi trailer, and they were putting on drum brakes.

Can someone tell me are drum brakes used all around? And why not use disc brakes, I thought they were better anyways?

Thanks!

Incidentally, in some places that omission accounts for more
serious accidents than Budweiser.

Every couple of years we hear about another person who thinks it's funny to drop things from bridges onto the highways below. I had some douchebag kids drop 2 bricks on my car the other night... my car's $3000 to fix and I lost about 6 hours that night with stopping there, then going to the hospital (because one brick came through the windshield and hit me). The kids had done it the past couple of weekends and were about to do it again on Monday night... they had stolen some more bricks from a construction site, packed them into the car, threw some at a house (whose owner called the police and that's how they got caught), then drove to a bridge and were stopping and turning off their lights when the police caught them. So they had no intention of stopping. Then the other day they went to juvi and denied they did anything... and covered their faces when they walked in. The one's this scrawny little kid with this long greasy hair... and the other one plays a lot of sports.

Cement mixers have a history of suddenly stopping their rotation if a load of cement is not blended right. When they do they'll roll over, even whilest stopped at a traffic light.

This happened some years ago in Garland, TX, instantly killing the lady in a car in the adjacent lane.

My question, is this taken into account when programming the rotation? I assume one direction is for mixing or traveling and the other is for emptying.

If the rollover is planned, Then it would make sense that British cement mixers would be made differently? Does anyone know which way they rotate?

Here, the full loads rotate clockwise viewing from the rear.

can some kind of distance-tracking censor be placed in automobole bumpers so that they make a beep in the car when collision is about to happen in tight parking places..such sensors could be adjustable at choice..

New cars are made so that way when you get into an accident they crumple becuase it supposedly saves lives. In my experiance they do not saves live they cause more damage so if you survive the wreck it cost a fortune to fix. I've been in a couple of accidents two of them in old muscle carsthe first time I hit a gaurd rail at 40 and was left with a small dent and I got into a bad accident with my 67 firebird I was doing about 130 lost control of the car rolled it a couple of times before hitting a tree I walked out with a bunch of scrapes and bruises and some fractures but nothing seriously injured. a similiar thing happened to my father in the 70's with his chevelle and he walked out with minor injuries.I got in an accident at like 30 with my 95 talon and totaled the car and my stealth I hit someone only going about 8mph and needed to replace half the front end. I've had friends die in new vehicles but none in the older cars why would they change if it's safer to drive the older cars?

I found this phrase on www.brake.org
"Many bikers are killed due to other drivers failing to
spot them and pulling out on them at junctions, but bikers are
also often killed due to riding at excessive speeds on bendy rural roads with pot holes, hidden junctions and other hazards."

Does anyone know where I might find exact figures?

I asked a question recently about tires and liked one answer in particular. I tried to select it as the best answer, but something has gone wrong and I am unable to do that.

All of the answers I received were good, but the second answer to my question about truck tires was, I thought, the best and most helpful. I'd like the nice person who answered to know that I thought THEIR answer was the best but the "system" isn't allowing me to do that, for some reason.

Anyway, thanks to the second answerer who told me about the money he/she saved--I appreciate it!
