I asked a question recently about tires and liked one answer in particular. I tried to select it as the best answer, but something has gone wrong and I am unable to do that.

All of the answers I received were good, but the second answer to my question about truck tires was, I thought, the best and most helpful. I'd like the nice person who answered to know that I thought THEIR answer was the best but the "system" isn't allowing me to do that, for some reason.

Anyway, thanks to the second answerer who told me about the money he/she saved--I appreciate it!

Additonal: I waited about 3 days after I asked. I wasn't aware that points would be DOCKED if the community voted for me! That sucks.
Thanks for the vote, Patrick.

When you ask a question, by default, it stays "open" for 3 days and then if you don't "extend expiration" or pick a best answer it will go to a vote. Once it goes to the vote, you can no longer pick the best, but you are allowed to vote once yourself. You may have just missed the deadline when you came back to choose your answer.

Sometimes, when I ask a question I intend to leave up for awhile, I immediately extend the expiration right after I ask it. That way it has like a week on it.

Good for you for wanting to pick what you thought was the best answer, so many people don't bother. I voted for answerer #2 for you too, at the time of my vote it was leading with like 7 votes!

You have to wait a minimum of 4 hours after asking the question to select a best answer. If you wait too long, the entire yahoo community choooses it for you and docks points from you!
