I live in the Northeast and deer are a serious road hazard at times. A friend of mine claims if you accelerate when it appears you're about to collide with one it will do less damage to your car, and possibly save your life because it is more likely the deer will be turned to a moosh instead of a projectile to come through your windshield. Any thoughts? It would be preferable to have some sort of evidence to back up any theories. Thanks!

We live in New York state. My boyfriend had a blackout behind the wheel back in February... we don't know why but think it was just a freak accident type thing. He hasn't been diagnosed with anything other than 'depression.' Is he or is he not allowed to drive, under NY state law? I thought he was barred from it only if he had a seizure or seizure disorder. Help...?

My son has passed bike test and has licence, tax and insurance. he has been charged in the uk for letting his friend - who does not have insurance etc ride his bike.
No one was hurt and no damage to other peoples property charge is purely that he allowed friend to drive bike.

Does anyone know what penalty he is likely to get for this? He is 16 yrs old. he is afraid he will lose his licence.

If all cars were made with a max speed of 80mph this would stop speeding and possibly prevent accidents/loss of life. I mean what's the point in a car being able to travel 160mph?

Whenever I buy only 2 new tires Discount Tire says to put them on the back so you don't have oversteer. I say put them on the front so you can brake good in an emergency. Where do you think the 2 new or best tires should go?

law that cars, bikes etc can only go a given speed thus meaning boy racers and the like cannot break the law and show off even if they wanted to? It seems crazy to me on the one hand to make it criminal to do it and on the other give us all vehicles with the capacity to do it!!??

Yes I know, dumb move. I actually took my car up to 60 Kph for a good 5 minutes, before realizing it was on. I disengaged the brake while driving, and the car performed normally from then on, except for the smell of what I think was burned break fluid coming in through my AC vents.

I found an open stretch of road and I tested my breaks. They appear to be working normally. The car stops like it normally does and no abnormal sounds can be heard during breaking. I still have some break fluid left.

Any idea how badly I have (or may have) damaged my breaks/car? Should I take it in to my mechanic?

How do you tell your parents you were cycling along and a car came out of nowhere and you accidentally hit it, causing damage. When the driver then gets out and starts swearing at you. Who would be in the wrong?

I'm 17

Its crazy but My parents never taught me how to drive.

They have a work schedual were their gone most of the week. I pretty much only see them on weekeneds.
My mom gets to nervous, because my older sister got in a few car wrecks when she was a teen.and my dad, is ******* phyco. he is just too mean, and i get way to nervous to do **** with him in the car.
anyhow a few weeks back we paid my neighbor to teach me.
and i did fine.
i can now back into and out of the drive way, ive driven up and down my road backwards fowards with cars coming, kids playing and all of that.
I've been all up this windy twisty curvey road thats about 2 miles long. with cars coming and everything.
But the thing is, the REAL road, you know with the yellow stripes and ****, ive barley been on.

Ive driven on it, and did ok but was a bit nervous. too much traffic. should i go at night? less traffic then here. could pratice alot. if not ill never learn. neighbor says im ready for test/ i'm not so sure?

Student driver-- having a Really hard time parking, both forward and reverse. I just can't seem to pull in straight, or centered in the space! Looking in my sideview mirrors doesn't seem to help much and gives me two separate problems-- I have a problem gauging how much space I have on my sides (so that I tend to end up parked Right up against the line on the left side, and all the space on the right side), and I can't tell if I have the car lined up or not (so that I end up in the space crooked). I feel so stupid.
Any advice would be helpful:

* When approaching the space I want to park in, at what point do I start turning?;
* How do I use my mirrors to figure out if my car is straight?

I'm practicing in an old 90's Dodge Stealth and it is Impossible to see anything :-(

Some people tell me they have bad handling. Something about their design makes it death machines. Like slidding or whatever during turns, or during slippery raining days.

Some guy told me that his Mustang GT was dangerous because it doesn't do well in the wet pavement. My friend who rented a Charger and Avenger says it sort of drifts or slids when turn i don't know.

I want to have confidence in Domestic cars. So which should I avoid, and which is something that is good?

Please tell me your stories! Best stories win.

i parked my car and was away. i received a valid license disk but am out of the country and had no time to get to my car to display this (now my car still has a license disk that expired yesterday).

I will not be driving my car in the meantime but as it is parked should i be worried that i am likely to get a penalty notice for that?

if i get one, what do i do ?, (as i have paid and have my license disk although not displayed)

Near a village in Cheshire a man dressed a scarecrow as a trffic warden with a mock speed camera.
The Police told him to move it because it might cause an acccident. If they are so dangerous why are the police using them or do they have some kind of magic formula..

It's outside, so electric devices seem a bad choice in case it rains. It has no alarm, and they mostly clamber on it when I'm sleeping, so I can't scare them away. And I rent, so I can't build them a tower....

why do so many complain about them , it`s there to catch you speeding not just raise money for the goverment , at the end of the day you don`t speed you don`t get fined.

Someone yelled at me to use the crosswalk today when I was crossing the street, but the nearest official crosswalk was more than a block away. My dad's house is directly across the street from the parking lot my aprartment is in. A car was pulling out of my parking lot and nearly hit me while I was in the middle of the street. There aren't crosswalks at the begining and end of every single block so do pedistrians always have the right of way?

I bought a car off cars.com from this guy & he lied & said nothing was wrong with it, & now it's causing me a whole bunch of problems. & come to find out, the guy who sold me the car never had it legally in his name, so I had to get a Surety Bond on the car.

It broke down on me the next day & then I took it to a mechanic, & after that it was fine for about a week. Now, the car is acting really crazy again, & my friends tell me that it's a danger on the road. When I press on the gas, I have to press EXTRA hard, & the car hesitates to go & then makes a loud sound. It's like the car is yelling & screaming @ me. When we got out the car, the car's engine was smoking. & we only drove about 0.2 miles to the pathology clinic to get some blood drawn.

Is the car gonna blow up? I'm really scared. Smoke is coming from the engine. Should I put water on it or would it make things worse? Or should I leave it alone? I don't have the money for a mechanic or to get the car towed. I need help.
