I'm 17

Its crazy but My parents never taught me how to drive.

They have a work schedual were their gone most of the week. I pretty much only see them on weekeneds.
My mom gets to nervous, because my older sister got in a few car wrecks when she was a teen.and my dad, is ******* phyco. he is just too mean, and i get way to nervous to do **** with him in the car.
anyhow a few weeks back we paid my neighbor to teach me.
and i did fine.
i can now back into and out of the drive way, ive driven up and down my road backwards fowards with cars coming, kids playing and all of that.
I've been all up this windy twisty curvey road thats about 2 miles long. with cars coming and everything.
But the thing is, the REAL road, you know with the yellow stripes and ****, ive barley been on.

Ive driven on it, and did ok but was a bit nervous. too much traffic. should i go at night? less traffic then here. could pratice alot. if not ill never learn. neighbor says im ready for test/ i'm not so sure?

My best friend, his friend, and I were riding around at night, he has less driving experience than me, and james let him take the wheel, we were all scarred as hell, but he did fine! and frankly i dont plan on going far.

Im 17.

if i dont learn how NOW Ill be riding the bud my senior year.

I already miss out on all the cool social things cause mom wont let me ride with "teen" drivers (lol?)

We cant afford professional stuff, all our bills get turned in two months behind as it is.

I cant get a job if i cant drive.

My grades are not so great, so im really thinking i orta work and get some college money right now while theres time.

My best friend will be back in a month and If i cant drive, me and him are gonna be stuck at home for a long time.

I just think, not driving far away from home, would be fine.

i wanna know, besides breaking curfew, what other problems might i face?

and no more "its wrong" bullshit, go **** yourselves uptight pricks, i want advice from, "fun" people.

You know, the first part didn't sound too bad. Then you started whining and crying. Not too much of a man at the end, are you? I had to wait until I was 18, couldn't afford driver ed either. I made it without a whimper, why can't you?

Besides, if you forget what you learned in only 1 week, you really shouldn't be anywhere near a road. "

Havnt forgotten a thing, but I know one week, is gonna be two weeks, then a month, then a few months, and before you know it i'll be decorating a christmas tree.

im determined not to wait to 18.

,missing too many parties as it is.

later days.

I have done a paper route in the middle of the night from 3am-7am for the last 3 years.

I find that driving in the middle of the night is much, much safer as there is pretty much no one else around to do all of the bad things which actually cause the accidents (cutting you off, tailgating, not signaling, running stop signs etc).

However if you don't have your licence it is a bad idea because I have found that there are far more police per car at night then in the day.

I have been followed by the police for 10 minutes while they try to see if I do anything wrong. I've even been followed by one police while another sits in the lane beside me and stares into the car. Note that I have never even had a traffic ticket once and have never been in a fender bender and I've been driving for 6 years. I don't have a criminal record at all either.

The police at night pay a lot more attention to any car they see because they are bored and they have nothing to do (since there are too many hired for the middle of the night because the public demands it).

So, I would say it's a good idea because driving in the middle of the night is by far the safest but I wouldn't recommend it because if you don't have your license you could get in major crap and have to pay a lot of money.

If youve only been driving for a few weeks then i doubt you would pass

ask a friend or look in the yellow pages (uk driectory thing if you live in the states) for a number of a driving instructor, they can then give you a professional opinion

oh and btw driving at night i find easier but i still wouldnt go out without a license cause you'll get a ban/fine or wteva

No - definitely do NOT drive by yourself at night if you are an unlicensed driver.

You could hurt someone.

You could hurt yourself.

Get some professional lessons. Get your licence and then go drive till your hearts content.

A car is not a toy and the roads are not a playground. Many young drivers over estimate their abilities and then get into situations that they can't handle.

Please - be sensible.

First, go surfing on the web. Type in "teen drivers." Now, do you see all of those accidents? How many teens killed their parents, best friends, relatives, or people in the other car? You should never disobey your parents on such a serious topic. Please stay home and on this site. Type in crazy and clean questions and answer with crazy and fun answers. You will be safe and happy and we will be the same. Stay alive

My goal is to publish a magazine or website that is just for all parents. Somewhere you can go to for advice, refferals and help. My magazine or webiste will range anywhere from how to deal with friends and parents, to how to write a resume or find a job and finally how to be a teenage parent and cope at the same time.

Driving at night is much more difficult than driving during the day. I've been driving for a long, long time and I'm still not crazy about driving during the night (especially if it's raining).

If you don't have your license, and have little experience driving, I wouldn't recommend it at all unless it's an emergency.

No, you should not drive at night until you are REALLY good at driving in daylight. Once you have daytime driving down, then you can start practicing at night (at first with a teacher, of course). Don't do anything stupid.
