It's outside, so electric devices seem a bad choice in case it rains. It has no alarm, and they mostly clamber on it when I'm sleeping, so I can't scare them away. And I rent, so I can't build them a tower....

How do you keep birds away that drop on your car? how do you keep rain water away from your car? How do you keep debris from trees away? You just wash your car! Why do you have to keep the poor cat away that did nothing to your car? Pepper or cayenne is not humane. Buy a cover if your car is that expensive or park inside the garage!!

Cayenne pepper will repel most animals in the same fashion pepper spray stops criminals in their tracks. I would reccomend a thorough and HEAVY waxing of your vehicle prior to applying anything to its exterior to protect it's clearcoat from the pepper and any reaction the cats may have to it. Another word of caution is to prevent your air conditioning/heating system from becoming filled or contaminated with an excessive amount of pepper as you will irritate your eyes and nasal passage with cayenne. Hope this helps and try posting in the pet section also to find other sound and reasonable suggestions.

Cats just gravitate towards cars! Why not buy a cover for your car and put it on at night?

Buy a Glock 9MM with a laser sight, some good hollowpoints and have a ball. You might want to try a few targets first so you don't blow a hole in your car. Personally I use a 22 Magnum but it most cities a rifle is a bit obvious.
