I have a Lexus IS 350 2007 and I heard some people saying that it's better for the engine if I press the brake before changing transmission. Is that true?!

I have only been driving a few weeks,
I was just driving down a residential road and It had a speed camera,
It was 30 mph zone and I was just doing slightly over at 32 mph.
I wasn't being a boy racer, I'm just getting to grips with driving and a new car.
Will I lose my license ????

It seems to me that if road pricing is introduced, (I hope not) it would be unfair on the "less well off" and would lead to a "rich only" culture of road users. By allowing a basic free personal milage to everyone (Say 30 miles per day) we could at least get to work free. Business milage would need to be dealt with under the company car taxation rules. If it works right, we would all be deterred from using cars just for leisure trips.

Mine was a '89 Nissan Sentra because everything about it was so comfortable, and it drove so smoothly. It rarely needed repairs.

I have a 1984 Mk2 Toyota Supra and want to perform some modifications. I have a fair idea what i would like to do but I would like some suggestions on both visual and performance upgrades.

I need the car to be legal for on road purposes, and in Adelaide there is no restriction on the maximum horsepower a motor vehicle may have. I would like acceleration more than max speed as it is for on road use. I just want a beasty looking car with a great sound and good performance. I know with the right upgrades these cars can fill the part easily.

Looking for any ideas from paint colour and vinyls, to new spark plugs and leads to fuel tank flush, new exhaust, fuel injector clean to engine swaps and turbo chargers. As long as the car will hold together under the extra stress.

Ps. the car is an automatic, has only one tiny rust spot on the roof near the hatch which will be bogged. Hoping to get a job after this year at school (year 12). money will not be a problem. (Not Many Bills)

I really need all the advice i can get on this one.
I have my first driving test next wednesday and just thinking about it is making me feel sick.
I know from exams at school that i get extremely nervous when i know i have to do well. I know i have the ability to pass but i think my nerves are going to get the better off me.
I keep thinking that im going to let myself and my family down if i fail.
Does anyone one have any advice or any good tips to control these nerves.
Thanks

Not only did they have more recalls, but they had more problems per 100 vehicles than Lincoln, Mercury, Chrysler, and Cadillac?

Sounds like the Japanese aren't as reliable as we think.

I was just wondering why American car manufacturers have to have such large displacement V-8 and V-10 engines to get the horse power that ou can get out of say A Turbo Charged 4 or 6 cylinder engine. The reason being is I saw some power ratings for the corvette and the dodge viper and what there making with 8 and 10 cylinders, can easily be made with 4 or 6 cylinders. The Toyota Supra's 3 Liter Inline Six, Twin Turbocharged makes allmost what some of these large displacement V-8's make. And Nissans inline six and V-6 are the same way.

Who has an SUV that you love with a lot of rear trunk space? I currently drive a 2000 Ford Expedition that I love. However, I have two sons that play hockey and this SUV doesn't have enough trunk space - which I need. I also don't want to break the bank but I want a nice vehicle. Thanks for honest answers (please no responses about the environment, gas guzzlers, etc.).

I own a Jetta 1.8l turbo engine. I've heard that it doesn't really matter whether or not I use high octane gasoline, so long as I use only one type of gasoline consistently. Is there a scientific basis for this?
