My sister had a flight from N.C. to Chicago. Due to Thunderstorms in Chicago Being stuck in Ohio she was told here flight was not taking off untill 4pm not good for when your having a 7am meeting. She did Planes Trains and Automobiles just like the move. She cam to my place toook a shower Had Breakfast then I took her to the train station she made her big meeting with only being 5 minutes lat. Dam good with about 37 hours of no sleep.

She left the Rental behind with me and I took the car in and had a friend follow me so I could drop off the car.

YES! You can rent a Car 1 way. The Rental agencies may not like it although that is what they are in business for to let you r Rent a Car.
***Be sure they Give you a Full tank of Gas and You make Sure You Return the car with the same amount of Gas in the Tank. Otherwise you will be charge for the Refueling and you will pay for a dearly charge.

Yes... but there are sometimes catches. There may be additional fees for dropping it off at a different location than where you picked it up, and all locations will not accept this. It depends a lot on where you are going. You'll have to shop around. We needed a car from Kalamazoo, Michigan to Tallahassee, Florida. Neither was exactly a prime location. We had a difficult time finding a place, but we managed with a dozen phone calls or so. So yes, it can be done!

Sure it's possible. Just make sure the renting agency has a drop-off point at your destination city. Think about it; if you're driving from NYC to Los Angeles, you wouldn't want to have to drive all the way back to NYC to return the car, would you? In addition to being time-consuming, and fuel-wasting, you've also added about 3,200 miles to the mileage for which you are paying.

Yes but you will have to pay an additional drop off fee as they need to get the car back. The fees vary depending on the distance it could run from $25 to $300.
Sometimes you might get lucky, ask them if they have a car that they would like returned. (In other words maybe someone already made a one way trip and they need the vehicle returned.

Absolutely. But only if you find an agency that's willing to lose a car. Sometimes if they have a car that needs to go to your location they will give a discount on the fee. You have to call around.

sure, I do it all the time

Ask for prices ahead of time. When I rent from national one way they charge a daily rate and a certain cost per mile. Usually about $43.00/day and $0.37/mile. Avis usually just charges a daily rate for one-way but its higher, like $100.00 day with unlimited miles

Yes, you can arrange to rent in one city for drop-off in another city. Not sure, though, if ALL agencies do this.

It is possible, I do know that Enterprise will, although reluctantly they will. I drove an enterprise rental from Washington State, to Boise Idaho. It will cost you to do this as they have to pay someone to come drive it back.
