I have a 1984 Mk2 Toyota Supra and want to perform some modifications. I have a fair idea what i would like to do but I would like some suggestions on both visual and performance upgrades.

I need the car to be legal for on road purposes, and in Adelaide there is no restriction on the maximum horsepower a motor vehicle may have. I would like acceleration more than max speed as it is for on road use. I just want a beasty looking car with a great sound and good performance. I know with the right upgrades these cars can fill the part easily.

Looking for any ideas from paint colour and vinyls, to new spark plugs and leads to fuel tank flush, new exhaust, fuel injector clean to engine swaps and turbo chargers. As long as the car will hold together under the extra stress.

Ps. the car is an automatic, has only one tiny rust spot on the roof near the hatch which will be bogged. Hoping to get a job after this year at school (year 12). money will not be a problem. (Not Many Bills)

edit: thanks for answers so far, want japanese racey look, looking for something around $10k-$15k to do, otherwise will have to wait another year.

I have heard a Mk3 Supra engine slots straight in for $3000, and the upgraded turbo kit is $3000 giving 400rwhp. can anyone confirm this?

http://rabidchimp.com for some reason this site will not work for me (have tried 4 or 5 diff computers) but apparently it has what im looking for.

All depends on what you look you want from the car also.
Had a Maxima and didnt want to go for the vip look and modded that more racey looking.
So colour and bodykit wise choose a look either a vip tidy look with chrome and smooth colours.
Or a race look with japanese bumpers vents spoiler and either black or bright colours.
Same inside pod dials no dials pedal covers dash cover ice install big subs divx player screens .All goes to the outside look.
Speed wise its its an na engine new plugs and leads air filter panel with air feed maybe vent on bonnet straight to airbox.Need back pressure on an na system so not great big exhaust and filters where warm air can get in seems to be norm but can lose torque.
Add a turbo to engine small turbo need intercooler and turbo exhaust and new piggy back on ecu.
So is it worth changing engine or is it cheaper to get a new car with bigger engine price these up.Turbos get lag so depends what want.
More cold air and lighten car lighter flywheels take weight out thats not needed carbon fiber where can good luck.

Forgot to add nos for quick power gain

Chassis--roll cage a must.. Stroker smallblock Ford -- 575 hp on pump gas. Transmission - Gm power glide 2 speed. Rear end - Ford 9 inch 4:11 with full spool with a four link. Front end - Mustang II. This car would be able to run low 9's in the quarter. Ok, you said $ was no problem.

loads of insurers have now stopped overlaying autos with any alterations, in spite of what they are. There are nonetheless some who will insure changed autos, however the alterations could desire to be with factors that are the comparable length and specification as those already suited to the motor vehicle. frequently, no count if this is something which impacts the overall performance or braking potential of the motor vehicle, insurers wont touch it, yet while this is barely elegance, then you could desire to be ok. the sole ingredient i think of insurers could have a controversy with is the alloy wheels as they are beautiful to theives, so the insurer could charge you somewhat extra. you may desire to keep pictures and receipts for each little thing you do to the motor vehicle, as in case you have a declare, and additionally you haven't any longer any info you have performed the artwork, they're going to easily pay you the industry cost for an analogous type without alterations.
