No. You do it by your age and by what grade you are in.

No...you can take the class when you are 15 years old, and you can start to drive with an adult when you are 15.5 and then you can go for your license when you turn 16.

Unless you live in some of the European countries then you have to wait until you are 18 to drive. That sucks!

no not at all,it depends what grade you are in and how old you are. i only have one parent and i had to wait hella long because my parent didn't think i was responsible enough.I had drivers ed over the summer, and did drivers training in the school year, after school with Berkeley Driving School.
i just got my license in January so you have plenty of time

some states allow for early drivers licenses if there is a hardship, but not just because of only one parent. it must have a justifiable reason for getting it. then it is usually only limited use, and for those at least 15 years old. check with your state licensing authority for specifics.
