I drive in New York all the time and often park/stand my vehicle at a fire hydrant ( note I am always in the driver's seat when doing this ) . Is it a violation or illegal to do that?

I think I was a bit too Zen for most of you the first time I posted the question.
It was indeed a full question, because:
1) 'why' is a query indicator - for what cause or reason,
2) 'are' to exist or live, and
3) 'hubcaps' is the subject.
So, if it has to elabourated on, 'why do people use hubcaps at all? They serve no useful function in that they don't make your car turn better, go faster or reduce your running costs. Not in any shape or form.
Someone is obviously making a mint out of them because you have to
a) buy them with your car, (no-one ever advertises free hubcaps with every car, do they?)
b) have to replace them, which happens at an alarming rate according to the sheer number of them at the roadsides.
So, wouldn't it be a good idea to specify 'no hubcaps' for a discount on your next motor? Then you could paint your hubs yellow, or with pretty clouds/rabbits/flowers, just as you please.
Save the planet - do without hubcaps!

I was a lane away and a few car lengths behind him - it was a big 18-wheeler "pickup" style truck that was hauling stones. One hit my windhshield and not only chipped it, but it splintered it out into a star-shaped crack surrounding the chip. I was able to get the name of the trucking company and their location and this AM hunted them down and found them online. What do you think my chances are of having them pay for it? I'm assuming slim-to-none but i know that stone came from that truck - he got off at the next exit and i was unable to get any other info off the truck. I assume when i call the company and tell them what happened i'll get "we had no truck there this am". Is it even worth the bother?

Why not walk, get a bike, take the bus or even the train, get a taxi, scrounge a lift, hop, skip & jump anything really, just sell your car.
If I don't like doing something I try my best not to do it.
And why, after you have tried so hard to rip the side out of my car do you think saying " Oh, But I really don't like driving" will help the situation!

iam getting ready to clear coat my restored 1979 bronco. I tried the clear on a painted scrap piece first, i mixed the clear with hardner and a little pearls just to try it and after it dried it was not to smooth. I have a hvlp gun and i tried different psi the best i thought was about 22psi. Does the clear coat get thinned? When i got the clear i was told just to add hardner. Will it smooth out when it get buffed?

I am entitled to use both as I have MS and a 1 year old. But I have been told that these spaces are supplied as a courtesy and nothing can be done to enforce it. It is a private car park and therefore no laws are being broken. Once I parked behind the offending car & blocked it in for 15 minutes. But I know that was actually potentially dangerous (& no I didn't have the baby with me at the time) and probably made me no better than the person who was parked there. But it did make me feel better.

There MUST be something you can do! Any ideas?

Do you think all of the people who whine about them should take the bus instead of whining and still filling their car up? Gas prices are as a matter of fact based on the supply-and-demand laws.

Hi, I put a used set of mag wheels off ebay to my Mazda 626.
It came out from a 89 Mazda mx6.

The bolt pattern is the same. Drives smooth wothout a problem.

In the middle of the wheel, there is a 1-2mm gap between the centre hole of the mag and the hub of the car.
Basically it means the centre hole of the mag is a bit bigger than the car.

Will it be a major problem?
Is there any kind of spacers to fix it?

Still the mags are really cool!

Its 9 months until the day the car is unearthed. I just wanna see some feedback on peoples opinions about what condition the car would be in today. I think it might have flat tires, rotton gas, and faded paint . What do you think?
