This has been done mltiple times in the past. Each time the government steps in and takes over. why? They can't control water like they do oil. They would lose all the power to tax it and also almost any high ranking politicain has money in oil.
And while it is true that they produce almost no polluting clouds of toxic gas the "clean" emmissions they do produce would still effect the enviroment. It could dramatically increase the moisture in the air which would effect all plant life that is use to the temperate zone it is in. In theary it could cause mutations in some plants to adapt and possibly affect the ability for some to produce food.

Do you sincerely think that if anyone could make it work, they wouldn't end up at the bottom of the ocean with cement shoes. Must get real, anything like that wouldn't make it past the guys garage. There is way too much money to be made with oil. Think about it, all the oil people, all the arms dealers, all the undertakers would be out of a job.Well, we can't have that now,can we?

Because it will drip all over the road and make our roads consitently wet and unsafe. Higher accident rates. More fatalities. All good reasons not to use water. Electric is a better option. Also, water is highly corrosive. No metal engine could withstand that for long. RUST!!!!! Everywhere.

Well, it's not as easy as you think. We can't use it as a fuel for combustion, and even if cars were hydroelectric in some way, they would never be as efficient in converting power into energy as air-fuel mixtures can.
New technologies are arriving though.Read popular mechanics. They have some articles on new economcal technologies.
In case you didn't know, 100mpg is very achievable...

well there are scientific explanations for this but im not one so ill explain the best i can.....we don't have the rite technology to use water. oil and water are of different densities so im sure its a lil tougher to process WATER as FUEL, people don't go around drinking oil for a reason so maybe its just that oil is better to use!!!

You do not elucidate about using water and give no references. If you are referring to hydrogen, producing it is energy intensive. Water is a unique substance that resists being broken down into its elemental constituents.

Because current technology still prohibits us from extracting usefull power from water.
Currently the power consumed from using water for power is more than the power created. Maybe when technology improves we will run on water.
