my 1.6 honda civic vti-s m/t runs at 14km per liter of fuel. the new bmw with crdi engine claims to run at 23km per liter.

which is best? vtec(honda), vvti(toyota) ,mivec(mitsubishi), crdi(hyundai, bmw)

please do not answer hybrid or fuel cell engines as they are not in the mainstream market yet.

I'd take a VTEC Honda....VTEC is very flexible and Hondas are very reliable, so you won't be spending the money you save on repairs

Toyota's VVTi isn't as good as Honda's

A huge factor is engine size, so try to go for the smallest engine possible.1.6L not only refers to the actual engine size, but the amount of air it can draw in a complete revolution.The same is with all engines.More air means more fuel and less economy.

Don't assume more power means less economy.That's what variable valve timing is for,and Honda has the most experinece with it.
So I would either go first for honda and then bmw (if it has some variable valve timing it).
