Nissan 200sx turbo would be great.
I had one a few years ago.
0-60 -6.4sec
0-100 - 17sec
146mph
In standard trim. These are now pretty cheap and tough as old boots. It didn't really handle that well -spent most of my time going sideways and needed new back tyres every 10000miles!
It was great fun and would be a good basis for a racer or drifter, should be easy to mod.
Have fun
Cheers

Peugoet 205 GTi
Get a 1.6
put a 1.9 16v engine into it from a 405 SRi / BX GTi keeping the 1.6 gearbox,
Will out accellerate Scoobys, as the power to weight ratio is fantastic.
They handle brilliantly and if Satan had a car it would be a 205 1.9 GTi (widowmaker)
They are a legend for a reason

Toyota Supra without a doubt. The engines are so well designed that the bottom end of the stock engine will support 900+ horsepower. The only weak link on them is the head gasket but if you replace it with a copper racing gasket you end up with a bullet proof race car cheap. Hope I have been helpful.
